Not getting along too well. Rumour has it that OTA has not been staying at home lately. Maybe the move for Dhani caused a bit of strife. Not easy when the chicks leave the nest.

First of all, I agree that John was much more mature by the time Sean arrived, and that this had a great deal to do with how John viewed childrearing. However...
I do think two other factors come into play. One is Career. When Julian was born, The Beatles were just getting close to a breakthrough, something they had been working towards for years. Anything that would have distracted John from that goal would have been, and was, pushed to the background. Family and childrearing included.
The second factor is the Desire for family and fatherhood. Cynthia's pregnancy was unplanned, and while I don't feel that John would have loved Julian any less because of it, I don't think he was ready to BE a father; and consequently, again, Julian was not first and foremost in his plans. On the other hand, Sean was the result of years of WANTING a family on both John and Yoko's part. Hence John had more of a sense of Responsibility in raising Sean.
This is all just guessing from a distance on my part, as I really don't know for sure. Just a sense of how it might have been, based on what I have read in the past. If anyone has more concrete knowledge, I look forward to hearing from you.
